Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Private Day Trips
Take part in this full-day day trip to Long Tan and Nui Dat from Ho Chi Minh City. Accompanied by a private, English-speaking guide, learn of one of the post pivotal points during the Vietnam war, Long Tan. See how an Australian unit assisted in the rebuilding of the village, including creating a school. Walk the land of Nui Dat before returning to your accommodations at the end of the day.
Meet your tour guide in the lobby of your hotel at 8:00am to start the tour. From there, begin your 2-hour journey outside of Ho Chi Minh City to Ba Ria Vung Tau. Upon your arrival, start with a visit to the former Nui Dat Task Force Base. This is the old camp site where soldiers used to stay. Then, observe the former runway that is now a road in the village. What used to be the heliport is now a playground for local children to play. After the guided walking portion, head to a local school established by Australians and Veterans, built to help the resident people.
Next, take a short walk to the former location of the Horseshoe that is now used for mining purposes. Proceed to walk to the Discourtesy Rubber Plantation after that. Continue with a drive to Long Tan where you will visit the Long Tan Cross Memorial. This memorial was created by Australian mercenaries in August 1969 to commemorate the memory of the great battle of Long Tan. Discover the Long Phuoc tunnels used during the war before re-boarding the vehicle and making your way back to Ho Chi Minh City.
